What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Contact and Submission form

Our contact form collects your username and email address so that we may contact you as requested. Further contact options are selected by you in the form of checkboxes. This information is stored as your user profile for future reference as needed for communications as requested by you. You will not receive communication from us in any other manner than as selected. The information in your user profile will not be made public with the exception of your username to give you credit for your work.

Your story submissions may be stored in our private database. The story may be published on this website as well as excerpts used on our social media and other promotional purposes with your username as an identifier as well as credit for your hard work.

If at any time, you would like any part of your profile changed or any of your content removed, simply email stories@promptedcollective.com and we will have it changed or removed within two business days.

We use cookies to identify and track our visitors, your usage of our website, and your preferences. Who we share your data with

We strive to protect your personal data as submitted to us voluntarily. However, no method of electronic transmission is guaranteed secure. We currently maintain our own database with your profile information using various Google products and the aforementioned Google Analytics visitor data as needed to determine the use of our website. Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

We will only disclose your information as specified herein and we will never sell your information to any third parties. We will; however disclose your information if required to do so in compliance with any legal regulations related to lawsuits or charges as requested or if any legalities are related to this website.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that submit content on our website, we store the content and personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can edit, or delete their personal information at any time. Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

You can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
